It is important to renew your passport before it expires, to avoid any delays or problems when traveling.

We have a Philippine Embassy in Singapore located at Nassim Road where you can apply for a new passport and avail of other important services, as well. In this article, we will be talking about the requirements, steps, and some commonly asked questions about renewing your Philippine passport in Singapore.

Applying for a New Passport in Singapore

Currently, the Philippine passport is valid for 10 years, although previously it was valid for 5 years only. In any case, it is recommended that you renew your passport around 1 year before its expiration date.

Requirements

The requirements for passport renewal are as follows:

  • Screenshot or printed email confirmation of your appointment;
  • Accomplished passport renewal application form;
  • Current Philippine passport and 1 photocopy of the data page;
  • Original and 1 photocopy of your Singapore IC, Work Permit, Personalized Employment
  • Pass, E Pass, S Pass, Dependent Pass, Long Term Visit Pass, or Student Pass.

NOTE: If you are a Short Term Visit Pass holder, you need to bring a photocopy of the short term or social visit pass stamp on your current passport.

For minor applicants (below 18 years old), the following additional requirements must be prepared:

  • Original and 1 photocopy of Birth Certificate issued by the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) if the applicant was born in the Philippines;
  • Original and 1 photocopy of Report of Birth issued by the Philippine Embassy or Philippine Consulate General if the applicant was born abroad;
  • Original and 1 photocopy of parents’ Marriage Certificate; and
  • Original and 1 photocopy of parents’ valid passports.

NOTE: The minor applicant must be accompanied by either the mother or the father. If the parents are not married, the applicant must be accompanied by the mother.

How to Book a Passport Appointment

The Philippine Embassy in Singapore is currently not accepting “walk in” applicants, mainly to limit the number of people coming everyday, and also likely because of the COVID-19 pandemic. In order to renew your passport or avail of other services, you will need to book an appointment online.

To book an appointment, go to this link and fill up the online appointment form. Be sure to enter a valid and correct email address, as this is where you will receive your appointment confirmation. Don’t forget to take a screenshot or to print the email confirmation because you will be presenting it to the Embassy on your appointed date and time.

Moreover, please take note of these important reminders:

  • Booking an appointment is free of charge.
  • Only one appointment slot is allowed per applicant. If you are applying for passport renewal together with family members, you must book a separate appointment for each member.

How to Renew Passport During Appearance Day at the Philippine Consulate

On the date of your appointment, go to the Philippine Embassy with all the documentary requirements. Before going there, make sure that you are wearing proper attire. Avoid wearing clothes that are too revealing, as well as clothes that are made of sheer or transparent fabrics.

At the Embassy, your documents will be checked and verified. Your biometrics (e.g. front-facing photograph and fingerprints) will be taken, and instructions for collecting your new passport will be given.

All passports are printed in the Philippines, so you will need to wait for about 6 weeks before you can collect your new passport. You can check if your passport is ready by visiting this website. This site also includes a link for booking an appointment to collect your passport. Yes, you need to secure an appointment before getting your new passport at the Embassy.

On your scheduled date for passport collection, be sure to bring the following:

  • Confirmation email of your passport collection appointment;
  • Blue consular collection slip given to you when you applied for passport renewal;
  • Your current passport, which will be canceled and returned together with your new passport; and
  • Authorization letter from the passport holder, if the new passport will be collected by a representative.

NOTE: Passports of minor applicants can only be claimed by the mother or father. In addition, please note that the collection counter at the Embassy is open from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm, from Mondays to Fridays (except during public holidays).

To apply for a a change of surname, please prepare these documents:

  • Original and 1 photocopy of Marriage Certificate issued by the PSA, along with the Apostille Certificate issued by the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA); and
  • Original and 1 photocopy of transcribed Marriage Certificate issued by the Local Civil Registry, if the entries on the PSA-issued Marriage Certificate are blurred or not readable.

2. I would like to revert back to my maiden name. What are the requirements?

To revert back to using your maiden name on your passport, prepare these documents:

For widows:

  • Original and 1 photocopy of the Death Certificate of the deceased spouse, issued by the PSA and with the Apostille Certificate issued by the DFA; or
  • Original and 1 photocopy of the Death Certificate, authenticated or Apostilled by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the country of death, if the spouse died in Singapore or in another country outside the Philippines.

For annulled marriages:

  • Original and 1 photocopy of the PSA-issued Marriage Certificate or Report of Marriage; and
  • Original and 1 photocopy of the Certified True Copy (CTC) of the Court Order effecting the annulment.

For divorcees:

  • Original and 1 photocopy of PSA-issued Marriage Certificate or Report of Marriage, with the annotation of the Divorce Decree; and
  • Original and 1 photocopy of the CTC of the Divorce Decree in English, authenticated by the Philippine Embassy or Consulate where the divorce was obtained, or by the concerned foreign diplomatic or consular mission in the Philippines.

3. I hold dual citizenship, and I would like to renew my Philippine passport. What are the requirements?

If you are a dual citizen seeking to renew your Philippine passport, simply prepare the following:

  • Original and 1 photocopy of PSA-issued Birth Certificate or Report of Birth;
  • Original and 1 photocopy of the Identification Certificate and Oath of Allegiance issued by the Philippine Foreign Service Post (FSP) or Bureau of Immigration (BI); and
  • Original and 1 photocopy of passport or government-issued identification from the country of second citizenship.

4. I lost my passport. How can I get a new one?

To replace a lost passport, you need to submit these documents:

  • Accomplished passport application form;
  • Accomplished Affidavit of Loss of Passport;
  • Police Report on the loss of passport issued by the Singapore Police Force;
  • Photocopy of the lost passport’s data page (if available);
  • Original Birth Certificate issued by the PSA and authenticated by the DFA; and
  • Original and 1 photocopy of Singapore Pass (e.g. EPass, SPass, NRIC, WP, DP, LTVP).

NOTE: The processing of your new passport will start after a 20-day clearing period upon submitting the above documents. Also, please prepare a lost passport replacement fee of SGD 255.00 and a notary fee of SGD 42.50. Payments must be made in cash only.

5. My passport has been damaged/mutilated. How can I replace it?

To replace a damaged or mutilated passport, you need to prepare these documents:

  • Accomplished passport application form;
  • Accomplished Affidavit of Damaged Passport;
  • Original passport and 1 photocopy of the data page; and
  • Original and 1 photocopy of Singapore Pass (e.g. EPass, SPass, NRIC, WP, DP, LTVP).

NOTE: In addition to these requirements, please prepare a passport fee of SGD 102.00 and a notary fee of SGD 42.50.
