Singapore Flyer Reopens to Public After Thorough Maintenance Work Completed

After over two months of hiatus since its last operation in January, the Singapore Flyer is back and is fully operational once again after it had reopened to the public last April 1.

The observational wheel’s operations were halted towards the end of January this year when the Flyer’s operator found a technical problem as it was carrying a total of 61 passengers on board last January 25.

Singapore Flyer Reopens After a Two-Month Hiatus for Maintenance Work

According to Singapore Flyer’s Director of Marketing and Sales, Ms. Veronique Ye, the structure’s operator had already completed servicing the Flyer and replaced the part which had been identified to have caused the problem. Even the parts that were unaffected by the Jan 25 “technical glitch” were also inspected by an independent professional engineering specialist through a series of tests that were done at the same time when necessary maintenance work was being carried out.

The two-month long hiatus, as explained by Ms. Ye, involved rigorous and thorough checks and tests to ensure the safety of the Singapore Flyer’s flight operations as attested and backed by relevant agencies such as the BCA and the Singapore Civil Defense.

As per the Building and Construction Authority’s (BCA) statement, they have already given clearance for the Singapore Flyer to resume operations after an independent professional engineering specialist was able to carry out the necessary safety tests and checks to meet BCA standards.

On its first day to resume operations, the Flyer has seen lower attendance than its usual, but it is expected to pick up once again in the near future once more people pick on the news of its safe operations and reopening from this point out.

Visitors and guests can purchase tickets online or at the on-site ticketing counter, which is open daily from 8 am to 10 pm.
