Philippines – The Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) has opened its 2026 scholarship applications, giving qualified overseas Filipino workers and their dependents a shot at financial help for college in the Philippines. Applications started on September 7, 2026, with deadlines that differ by program.
According to a OWWA, three programs are now accepting applicants, all processed online through the official OWWA Scholarship Portal at scholarship.owwa.gov.ph.
Three Programs, Different Benefits
OWWA is offering support through three scholarship tracks this year:
- Education for Development Scholarship Program (EDSP) — up to Php 60,000 per school year for dependents pursuing a four- or five-year college course.
- OFW-Dependents Scholarship Program (ODSP) — Php 20,000 per school year for qualified dependents taking a bachelor’s degree or an associate course.
- Congressional Migrant Workers Scholarship Program (CMWSP) — up to Php 60,000 per school year for priority science and technology courses.
The EDSP is split into two categories. Category 1 covers incoming first-year students, with only the top 1,000 qualifiers considered for freshman slots. Category 2 is for students already in their second to fifth year, with 600 slots available.
Two Deadlines to Watch
Timing matters, and the windows are tight. Applicants should note which deadline applies to them:
- September 7 to 17, 2026 — EDSP Category 1 and CMWSP
- September 7 to 27, 2026 — EDSP Category 2 and ODSP
The shortest window closes on September 17, so families eyeing EDSP Category 1 or CMWSP have limited time to complete their submissions. OWWA advises applicants to prepare their requirements early rather than wait until the final day.
Membership Alone Isn’t a Guarantee
Here’s an important reminder for hopeful families: being an active OWWA member does not automatically secure a scholarship. Slots are limited each year, and every application goes through validation, screening, and selection. Programs with a qualifying exam or ranking requirement need those steps completed as part of the process.
Each program also carries its own eligibility rules, so it’s worth checking which one truly fits before applying.

Head straight to scholarship.owwa.gov.ph, then choose the program and category that match your situation. Depending on the scholarship, you may be asked for proof of grades, valid identification, proof of relationship to the OFW member, and proof of enrollment.
