As the air becomes cooler and a familiar feeling of excitement creeps underneath our skin, we know that Christmas is just around the corner. And here in Singapore, Christmas brings everyone out on the streets, visiting malls and city attractions such as the Gardens by the Bay for exciting sights and sounds to enjoy the festive holiday season.
And as early as now, many holidaymakers are already looking forward to how and where they will celebrate the Christmas season – and if you’re one of them, look no further! We’re giving you the scoop on what’s happening at this year’s edition of Christmas Wonderland at the Gardens by the Bay.
Christmas Wonderland Is Set to Return at Gardens by the Bay by the End of November
Starting November 29 to December 6, one of Singapore’s top tourist attractions, the Gardens by the Bay will feature its first Nordic-inspired floral displays curated by the Ambassador of Denmark for Singapore herself, and a new art installation made with tens of thousands of colorful light fixtures so you’ll have one more photo backdrop to play with other than the Italian light sculptures that have been the event’s centerpiece since it started.
For this year, the humble parade will only feature three floats that will make its rounds on the event’s carnival fairground on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, as well as on Christmas and Boxing Day.
Expect to see Santa riding his sleigh, santarinas, cheeky penguins, and snowmen in the parade.
This year’s edition of Christmas Wonderland will also feature a carnival with nearly 20 rides and games set up for families and the kids!
Interestingly, the Christmas Village will feature new vendors — the shortlist of which will be announced at a later time, according to organizer Blue Sky Events.
Meanwhile, the Poinsettia Wishes Floral Display at Gardens by the Bay’s Flower Dome, creatively organized by Ambassador Dorte Bech Vizard, will showcase iconic landmarks of Nordic countries adorned with Christmas decorations.
Expect to run into a crowd of selfie hopefuls forming a queue at the event’s new “Walk of Peace,” a 50-meter tunnel structure made with 60,000 light bulbs. The Mistletoe Alley installation will be pimped out with more lights, too.
Still not buzzed enough by the light installations up in store? You can also catch a special light and sound Christmas show in the Supertree Grove.
Other exciting new additions to this year’s themed event include a “Santa’s Workshop” corner, where visitors can witness Santa’s elves hard at work to make their Christmas production quotas. There will also be theatre performances by international acts such as New York-based illusionist Vitaly Beckman, Australian circus performers Trash Test Dummies, and a London theatre production called Snow Play.
Also, this year’s Yuletide live music sessions and Christmas caroling are courtesy of acts including Singaporean songstress Inch Chua and the Hwa Chong Institution Choir. Tickets starting at SGD 6 are already available online.
