Expats who want to get a driver’s license in Singapore will need to pass a series of tests and exams. The practical and theoretical exams will equip the applicant to obtain a license which he can use to start driving in the city.

Applying for a Driving License in SG
Step 1 Basic Theory Test
Test fee is SGD 6.00
- Choose a driving center that you would like to apply below.
- Create an account with the chosen driving center.
- After creating an account and choosing what driving center.
- Book for a Driving Theory Test (BTT) – For scheduling an Exam, you will be required to bring the following documents.
- -Identity Card or Passport
- -Work permit
- -Immigration pass
- Get the results for the exam
Step 2 Driving Lessons with a professional
This step will allow you to learn how to drive on public roads with a professional driver instructor. The application should be done in person. You can choose the driving centers based on the list we’ve researched below.
- Go to the preferred driving centers.
- Submit the test result slip together with your Passports, work permit or Employment pass
- Fee is SGD 25
- Get your eye exam which includes color blindness test.
- Claim your Provisional Driving License (PDL).
Note: Your Provisional Driving License is valid for 6 months. You may renew it after 6 months for SGD 25.
Convert your Philippine driver’s license to Singapore driver’s license
In order to convert your Philippine license to a Singapore one, you will still need to undergo the same process in getting a new driver’s license in Singapore.
- Go to the preferred driving centers.
- Submit the test result slip together with your Passports, work permit or Employment pass
- Fee is SGD 50
- Get your eye exam which includes color blindness test.
- Your converted driver’s license should be released after a month.
You need to be 18 years of age to get a valid driver’s license in Singapore. You need to submit the necessary requirements and documents. Like other countries, you need to learn and pass the BTT or Basic theory test. Once done, you can proceed with the driving test. To be equipped you need to go to an accredited driving school.
