Fans of Filipino food have two new reasons to “bee happy” in Singapore. Many overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) take comfort in finding any semblance of “home” away from home. And many of us have gotten through homesickness by regularly talking to family over the phone or the internet and eating Filipino food.
However, more than serving all-time Filipino favourites to Filipinos overseas, Filipino fastfood giant Jollibee, intends to take over the international market, to which many Singapore residents have expressed their approval.
Jollibee Further Expands in Singapore with Two New Branches Soon to Open
Jollibee, whose first fast food outlet opened in Singapore six years ago back in 2013, is set to open two more outlets on the island this year, as shared in an update by Mothership.sg.
The two new outlets are set to open in Woodlands and in Punggol. With these developments, fans of the Filipino fast-food will no longer have to travel far and wide to get their cravings satisfied, especially since the two new outlets will be opening at Woodlands MRT and Waterway Point.
Jollibee’s Waterway Point outlet can be located on the basement 1 level of the Heartland mall, next to McDonald’s.
On the other hand, its Woodlands counterpart will be in the public area at Woodlands MRT, which was previously occupied by Burger King.
As of press time, sites of both new outlets are currently fenced up with temporary wall posters with teaser illustrations hinting at their future opening.
There are currently six Jollibee fast-food outlets on the island. Check out the list of Jollibee stores in Singapore here.
As of this time, Jollibee Singapore has not yet released any dates as to when the new stores will open.
Unsurprisingly, netizens have expressed excitement and delight over the news, where some even casually claimed that they are expecting to gain a couple of pounds on the waist with the fast-food’s opening in their area very soon.
Just as much as we love our Jollibee, what’s great about the news is how non-Filipino citizens are also expressing their excitement to get their hands and taste buds on one of the well-loved foods in the Philippines.
Additionally, with the new openings set to make their way in the heartland very soon, there will not only be variety for Singaporean foodies, but there will also be friendly competition to other fast food competitors, as well.
