From originally a 2-week long event to a month-long celebration, the 2017 Lifelong Learning Festival will officially take off Saturday (Oct 28) and showcase over 300 learning activities all across Singapore backed by 145 community affiliates as announced by major event partner, SkillsFuture Singapore, last Thursday (Oct. 26) in a press meeting.
The goal of the festival is to help Singaporeans adapt a culture of life-long learning into their way of living. This event is estimated to reach around 30,000 visitors across all age groups through its community affiliates’ efforts.
Month-long festivities await at the 2017 Lifelong Learning Festival starting Oct 28
All learning events and activities will focus on four central themes:
1. Learning for the Digital Future
Venue: Devan Nair Institute for Employment and Employability
Date: October 28, 2017, 10 am – 5 pm
2. Learning as a Community
Venue: Our Tampines Hub
Date: November 4, 2017, 10 am – 6 pm
3. Empowering Yourself through Life-long Learning, and
Venue: Singapore University of Social Sciences
Date: November 11, 2017, 9 am – 6 pm
4. Tinkering with Crafts and Technology
Venue The Marquee, Science Centre Singapore
Date: November 11 & 12, 2017, 10 am – 5 pm
Each of these themes will be bannered by a main event co-hosted by some of the festival’s major partners from related fields such as the Science Centre Singapore and Singapore Community Society (SCS) among others. With the overwhelming support from its community partners, Mr Tan Kay Yong, the chairman of the Lifelong Learning Council, hopes that this event will inspire everyone to incorporate life-long learning strategies in their way of life.
