Not many home-grown businesses from the Philippines have ventured out overseas to infiltrate a solid local market. However, following the footsteps of Jollibee, one of our favourite snack franchises, Potato Corner, has also opened for business here in sunny Singapore last June 24, 2018.
Present at the inauguration of the franchise’s newest outlet at 313@Somerset Mall along Orchard Road were Philippine Ambassador to Singapore Joseph Del Mar Yap, Secretary of Finance Carlos Dominguez III and Commercial Counsellor Maria Cynthia B. Ricafort. Also there to witness the inauguration was the CEO of Potato Corner, Mr. Jose Magsaysay, Jr. together with other top executives of Potato Corner Philippines.
Potato Corner Sets up Shop in Singapore
Potato Corner was established in 1992 and has come a long way since. The franchise has earned its spot among the top Philippine food brands with over 1,100 outlets worldwide. The brand has opened branches in Hong Kong, Bangkok, Cambodia, Jakarta, Kuwait, New York, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, San Francisco, Australia, and even as far off as Panama.
The expansion move was in line with the brand’s future plans of increasing its market presence overseas, particularly within the ASEAN region. Potato Corner is reportedly eyeing its sights to open an outlet in Vietnam sometime in July.
The brand offers its signature French fries in five different sizes: Large ($2.90), Jumbo ($4.30), Mega ($5.70), Giga ($9.90) and Terra ($10.90) and in four delectable flavours: Cheese, Barbeque, Chili BBQ, and Sour Cream and Onion. Price starts at SGD 2.90 for a serving of potato fries. Furthermore, the brand is reportedly introducing a NEW FLAVOUR in Singapore by August.
