Customers can Purchase thru WeChat Pay at 600 Outlets in SG starting November 1

Great news for regulars of Cold Storage, Giant, Guardian, and 7-Eleven: There will be a new method of e-payment for your purchases – through the use of WeChat Pay on your mobile phone. The new payment method will be available at over 600 stores in Singapore starting November 1.

In addition to the aforementioned brands, Dairy Farm Singapore and Nets have also announced yesterday (October 23), that they are going to partner up with the Chinese e-payment giant to provide consumers the option to pay using its e-wallet service at over 600 retail outlets of the brands mentioned.

WeChat Pay Option to be Available at 600 SG Outlets starting November

With this initiative set to roll out early next month, visitors from China and Chinese nationals based in Singapore will be able to take advantage of the new payment option in majority of the retail outlets in the country.

The new e-payment option is being tested at the 7-Eleven and Guardian store at Changi Airport, as well as in Chinatown and Orchard Road.

With the adoption of the new e-payment option by Nets, partner retailers can easily use their existing Nets point-of-sale terminals for purchases through WeChat Pay, on top of Nets, Nets Flashpay, QR, credit, as well as debit card payments.

With the trend in retail transitioning to cashless purchases, Dairy Farm Singapore and Nets recognize that WeChat Pay will become a more viable and effective option for the growing number of Chinese nationals visiting the country.

According to the Singapore Tourism Board, the number of visitors from China has increased by almost 13 percent, from 2.8 million in 2016 to 3.2 million in 2017.
